It was built in 1809, and at 28m tall it throws its light 28 miles out to sea to guide in ships along the Dublin-Holyhead-Liverpool shipping route.It sits on Yns Lawd, a small island close to Holy Island, Anglesey, in North Wales and is reached by descending 400 steps down a steep cliff face before crossing to the island by a narrow foot bridge.
